18th March – Stacey Is Reading

‘Wow where do I start? A book that superbly showcases people in all their flawed glory. From the opening page I was pulled into a backstabbing world of one-upmanship where lies, sex and scandal are the currency in play and a conscientious mind and heart have no place in the game.

If you haven’t added this book to your TBR pile yet then what are you waiting for? I urge you all to grab your nearest copy today you won’t be disappointed in the slightest.’

19th March – Sincerely Book Angels

‘If I didn’t know any better I’d say that Milly writes her books with a magic wand and not a pen. The writing style is slick and sophisticated without losing that down to earth Yorkshire charm and wicked sense of humour that Milly is renowned for.

Milly’s writing is such a joy and this book has now become my favourite of hers. It’s fascinating to see that well established and brilliant authors such as Milly can still keep evolving and keep us chomping at the bit for the next amazing book.’

20th March – Reviews By Chloe

‘Milly has an incredible knack of creating the perfect characters for all her stories, and she’s outdone herself again with a cast that bring such key moments of advice and perspective – both good and bad, to bring the story alive.

In summary, it’s a feel good story that is RICH in friendship, love and GOOD FOOD. It’s easy to devour in one or two sittings, and will fill you with happiness as you watch Sophie become the strong woman she’s destined to be!’

The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew was no different.  Milly’s writing is as wonderful as ever as she creates a believable and beautiful story. Once you have turned the first page you will have trouble putting this down. It has all the elements of the perfect novel – humour, romance, drama & it’s a real page-turner, too. The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew is like a hug in book form and I absolutely LOVED it. Uplifting and pure escapism and the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon…’

25th March – The Writing Garnet

‘I’m just going to put this out there now – this book has got to be my most favourite book Milly Johnson has ever written. Whenever I turned the page onto a new chapter, it felt as though I was unwrapping a beautiful present. #TheMagnificentMrsMayhew really is a story that just kept on giving. I wasn’t just empowered and uplifted by the new direction that Sophie chose to take and the heartwarming situations she came into contact with, I also felt safe, and hopeful. You know you’re holding a diamond of a book in your hands when you feel as though you’re being hugged from the inside out.

If you ever feel as though you need to read something which will point you in a positive direction in life, I urge you to make this that particular read.  Such a beautifully written, poignant novel which highlights the importance of living life for YOU and believing in the choices you make, because nobody else is going to do it for you. Absolutely loved this book and everything it stood for. Phenomenal.’

26th March – Jera’s Jamboree

‘Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to express how you feel about a story …

I enjoyed getting to know Sophie, in the present day as well as 18 years ago at her boarding school, St Bathsheba.  It becomes clear that the life she’s living is not a choice but the doctrine she’s been exposed to from her family and St Bathsheba.  I connected with her from the beginning, feeling that all important emotional tug.  I had a couple of really late nights because I couldn’t put this story down, needing to know what she would do and the choices she would make.

There’s so much to love about The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew.  It will leave you with that feel-good fizz.  But I think just as importantly, Sophie just may provide inspiration for anyone else living with a narcissistic partner.  Often it just takes that one thing to act as a catalyst … and books have been known to change lives. ♥’

27th March – Alba in Bookland

‘The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew is a delightful story. I had such a great time reading it that I completely forgot about anything else! And once I finished it, I actually had to remind myself a couple of times that Sophie and all the other characters were not real and that I would not find their latest adventures in the newspaper.

I loved this story, it reminded me that no dream is too small or too big, you just need to go for it. Plus, Milly Johnson’s writing is a joy to read, engaging and with the perfect dash of drama and magic. Definitely a story that will leave you with a warm heart and a very positive vibe.’
